Why is Young Driver Car Insurance So Costly?

Young driver car insurance is one of those types of insurance which depends on whom the driver is going to be. The premium varies according to the prediction of chances of that driver meeting with an accident which is purely based on statistical trends from the past. Sometimes, it also depends on the car which is being insured.

This article gives you an overview on why insurance for people of age less than 21 demands higher premium. It also makes you aware of reasons other than pure statistical data, which may even be the reason for the data!

First of all, insurance companies have got some special discounts which can be availed if you show a good a good driving record by. A driver with a good driving record is one who has no traffic violation cases against him, auto accident or car crash claims done in his policy, will naturally have lower insurance premiums than one who has done all these mistakes. They don't have enough time to prove all these compared to their older counterparts.

They are often considered to be more prone to accidents because they lack experience in driving. There have been a lot of cases against them for accidents due to over speeding. Many statistical facts about these people get exaggerated. One such thing is about them drinking driving and drugged driving. The cases where they have been caught for illegal use of drugs have also been overly reported.

Another reason is their taste of cars, young drivers often want to drive expensive cars or trendy sports cars which will do them nothing good expect for setting an increase in their premiums. Leave alone the car, even if they are promised with low priced cars from their parents, they have a strong desire to customize their car with fins and spoilers, these may look good but can increase their premiums to a greater extent.

These are some of the reasons other than statistical data on why young driver car insurance policies are often expensive!
